"abstract": "I apply Heidegger’s notion of Unheimlichkeit, unhomeli-\r\nness or uncanniness, to a reading of William Wordsworth’s Prelude.\r\nWordsworth thematizes a kind of paradoxical being-at-home-while-\r\nnot-being-at-home, which is a stance of authenticity in the work of\r\nHeidegger, and can be read as treating “nature” as a name of Being.\r\nHeidegger’s notion of unhomeliness proves to be a powerful tool in\r\naiding our understanding of the dynamics of Wordsworthian nature\r\npoetry. In closing, I raise the possibility of Heidegger’s thought as the\r\nbasis for a broader rethinking of Romantic poetry that could recon-\r\ncile the differences between some prominent historical scholars of\r\nRomanticism."
